Today marked the beginning of Red Ribbon Week, and all students watched a video about Drugasaurus.  We had some good discussion about how learning to make wise choices now everyday at school helps establish good thinking patterns that will help them make wise choices later in life.  Students are working on essays about their role models for the PTO Writing Contest.  This topic fits in well with our emphasis this week.  Mrs. Stone, our literacy coach, came in to visit Block 2 to share a lesson about noticing what you are thinking as you read.  She taught us to write our thoughts on sticky notes so that we would remember them and be able to share them with someone else.  She will be visiting Block 1 on Wednesday.

Today marks the beginning of the first K12 Online Conference.  The focus of this conference is the use of Web 2.0 tools in education.  Over the next 2 weeks, 4 presentations will be uploaded daily by conference participants from all over the country and around the world.  Our Global Horizons program will be featured in a presentaton next week.
