Everyone came in wide awake today, which is unusual for a Monday!  We began with a conversation about the value of Web 2.0 tools and the way they enable us to communicate interactively with people around the world.  This morning I received comments posted on my personal learning blog from a teacher in Norway inquiring about the possibility of our students sharing some online projects. What a wonderful opportunity to expand our learning community!  I introduced the terms “digital native” and “digital immigrant,” and the students were able to identify why they are the natives and I am an immigrant. We finished reading Three Names by Patricia MacLachlan and noticed several similes.  Word study this week will be a little different.  Students have a list of 10 prefixes this week.  They need to learn the definitions and be able to correctly spell the sample words.

PTO will be held tomorrow evening at 6:30.  Several of our students will be recognized for the role model papers they wrote, and Mr. Geanangel will do a presentation on Internet safety.

Wes Fryer, one of the organizers of the K12 Online Conference, wrote an encouraging blog post about our class.  Check it out: Digital Pioneers.
