Friday was a very “high energy” day. We read a book called Molly’s Pilgrim by Barbara Cohen. Students made “tracks” of their thinking by writing some of their thoughts down on sticky notes. Several times during the story we paused so they could “Pair Share” about their thinking. This strategy helps to develop awareness of the inner conversations that take place as we read, which in turn strengthens our comprehension. This book is an immigration story, so it was a good lead into our next social studies unit. The book’s themes are about the importance of being yourself and of accepting others who may be different.
The digital stories of Bosch’s homeroom students have now been posted. Check out the link in the Blogroll!
