Today students began thinking about these questions, “If you could meet anyone living or dead, who would it be? Why would you like to meet this person? ” That’s the topic for the next writing assignment. After completing self-evaluations of their writing, this is an opportunity for students to focus on areas that need improvement. We continued talking about the features of nonfiction books. Students worked in small groups to examine and begin reading a nonfiction text. They were allowed to form their own groups today, and I was very impressed with how well the groups worked together. All of the books were about landforms in an effort to integrate our reading instruction with the new science unit. Reading MAP testing will be conducted at the end of this week. Bosch’s students will test on Thursday morning and Foxworth’s students will test on Friday morning. This is a shortened mid-year version of the test.
