Our new vocabulary words for this week are all geography terms.  These connect well with the science unit on landforms. Use the Quia review activity to study these words.  We had a lesson today about critical analysis of sources.  What makes a source credible and useful? Students identified types of texts that are generally reliable and acknowledged that everything on the Internet is not necessarily credible.  We explored a web site containing phony research documentation.  It looked so real until we got to the bibliography and saw obviously fake sources listed.  We discussed some details to note when checking a website for validity.  These critical thinking skills are vital in the development of information literacy.

Students worked on typing the letters to soldiers that they began writing last Friday.  Students are also working on a descriptive writing piece about their favorite places after we read All the Places to Love by Patricia MacLauchlan last week.
